Great Blue Heron in San Antonio, TX

Since the summer of 1992 this Great Blue Heron has returned to the ditch behind my house when it rains.  Sometimes it is years before we see him again; but he was here today.  Very interesting as the life span of the Great Blue Heron is said to be about 15 years.  Maybe this isn’t the same bird,–but I believe it is as it comes to the exact same spot.  I’ve seen him now for 21 years off and on; the “off and on” dependent upon whether or not we have a rainy year.
